We invite you to join us for a virtual town hall, Vision 2021: Moving Forward with Purpose where we will go in-depth to answer these questions:
What does it take to pass legislation in Ohio? It is a complicated process whether a bill goes through the legislature and is signed by the governor or it is voted on by citizens as a ballot initiative. We will briefly review these processes.
What is our role in this process? As a grass-roots organization, we are working to raise awareness, provide fact-based education, and build support for passing legislation for medical aid in dying for the terminally ill. I recently gave talks to the Rotary Clubs of Oberlin and Chagrin Highlands and had great conversations as a result. We always appreciate the opportunity to talk via Zoom with any organization. Let us know if your group or organization would like us to speak about our issue at a virtual event.
How long does it take? These efforts have taken time in all of the states that currently have laws. We are now watching the efforts in New Mexico to pass legislation in the coming months. We’ll talk about the valuable combination of groups working to make this happen and what we need in Ohio.
Are you interested in learning more, or do you have questions? Please join us for our Vision 2021 Town Hall meeting via Zoom on February 24 at 7:00 pm. We will talk about ways we can move forward in the days ahead and will answer your questions. We will introduce a Petition in Support of Medical Aid in Dying and discuss an upcoming video project made possible by the Leslie Keller-Biehl Memorial Fund.
