Ann Rowland, board member, points out options for terminally ill Ohioans in Letter to the Editor

It contains many safeguards, including requirements that the patient be competent and that two health care professionals determine the patient meets the law’s qualifications. Few people living in Ohio, or in other states that do not allow MAiD, know that they can travel to Vermont or to Oregon (the two states without residency requirements) to obtain and use a MAiD prescription.
Given the importance of MAiD as an option for end-of-life care, I welcome the press coverage of Vermont’s efforts to serve dying people traveling from other states. That is important news to any Ohioan with a terminal illness who wants options. Such news should have been covered as a major health care policy advance, and not on the “Homes” page.
