New Mexico has just become the ninth state to pass legislation allowing access to Medical Aid in Dying for the terminally ill. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham signed the Elizabeth Whitefield End-of-Life Options Act into law at noon on April 8, 2021. We are thankful that more Americans will now have this option that brings such peace of mind to those with terminal illnesses.

The law is a reality in New Mexico today because of the hard work of the New Mexico End-of-Life Options Coalition and the sponsors of the bill, Rep. Debbie Armstrong and Sen. Elizabeth Stefanics.
